Founded in 1965, Harford Minerals has a rich history of providing aggregates to support the infrastructure development within the State of Maryland. We are honored to be a small local business that has a massive impact on our communities and the region at large. Understanding the importance of sustainability and a circular economy is essential in today’s landscape.
This past year has been a blessing as we officially launched Repurpose Aggregates. Our partnership with CDE Group has been nothing short of remarkable. They have been with us side by side, as we have grown this from an idea at the table to the fully operational plant it is today. The plant processes 250 tons of construction waste material per hour and produces six different types of aggregates: #3 stone, #57 stone, #8 stone, C-33 coarse sand, fine sand, and clay core. 95% of the materials processed by Repurpose Aggregates are diverted from landfills, a number that is staggering when you think of how many tons of materials are processed every single day. These materials are separated, cleaned, and sorted so that it is once again valuable certified construction material.
Our facility is projected to annually divert 2,800 tons of carbon from our atmosphere, equivalent to planting 134,000 trees. The circular economy of our product will help make transport routes more efficient and offer a local, renewable source of material for companies that are currently having to go further and further away from the project site to access usable construction materials.
In an industry that has traditionally been hesitant to change, we are proud to be at the forefront and leading with sustainability. Through the creation of Repurpose Aggregates, we will continue serving this region that we have loved for decades to come.
